The form book would say a home win: Gateshead lost the last five games but Pools very shakey and defensive at home. We might scrape another 1-0 but I reckon a draw is highly likely. After all Pools winning two games in a row is very rare.

We've got a good record against the Heed at home.
I'm going for a 3-1 home victory - they might even bring a few fans with it being their closest game, which will help offset the normal drop off in home attendance for a mid week game.

Reid, Campbell and Miley with the goals for us.

Crowd 5057
421 from the Heed

I admire your optimism but surely in order to score three goals the team needs to be set up to attack rather than defend like fook and hope for a slice of luck like we got on Saturday. Was it three shots on goal in the whole game?

I wouldn't be so cocky KP - new boss Rob Elliott is turning the Heed's fortunes around, they have four new players and gave Rochdale a decent game on Saturday. If Feaths gets his act together from the off, starts with the side that finished the Alty match (assuming no new signings just yet) and doesn't revert to one upfront then I would go 2-1 Pools. Anything less ie should Feaths start fannying about with inadequate selections and/or negative tactics then its 1-1 from me - at best.

Unless there's new arrivals or injuries my money is on him starting the same 11 as Saturday. Can't see him changing tactics because Gateshead are in a false position don't you know? Besides Reid isn't isolated and we don't set up with 1 up top, it's only the ignoramuses on the terrace and watching on TV that think we do!
I reckon we'll scrape a 2-2 draw with a headed goal from a set piece and a penalty for us.

We really should be going out to smash the shit out of them.
New optimism bigger support n they bottom of this shit division.

But we won't.
Same dire tactics but still expect a narrow win to finally end this back to back home games Failurism.

2 1 to us.

Yes a little bit of revenge for that mauling they gave us. Another chance to get in the play off places if Southend falter.

The forecast is mild and dry, Landon is in attendance and the North West corner seats are sold out. I expect Gateshead to bring a decent following of at least 400 so the atmosphere should be good. Hopefully another 3 points and another good crowd!

If we cannot beat bottom teams at home Fevs must be replaced.
2-0 home win.
3800 including 250 from Gateshead.

Featherstone CANNOT afford to draw this game never mind (heaven forbid) lose it.

If we do not win this one, Then the writing is well and truely on the wall for him.

Much that I would like to concur with your synopsis, I'm increasingly of the opinion that it will end in a draw tomorrow and that Feaths will remain in his current position at least for the couple of months - unless we run into a sequence of defeats.

So how would you react if we won, because you’re giving me the underlying impression that if we won 4-0 (unlikely)…..you’d still not be happy.
I suspect the new owners have come and you want a new manager now!

problem is there were 2,000 extra poolies watching live last saturday with this feel good factor due to new ownership but the problems are still there on the pitch. doubt any club in our position would be worrying about playing a bottom club at home when they are points away from the play offs. however this side is far from looking a promotion contender. just to keep the fans happy its a must win tonight followed by something on saturday. 2 defeats will see sub 4,000 crowds very quickly.

For me, we should be beating Gateshead at home, given they are bottom - we need to develop a swagger.
They should feel lucky to get nil!

On the manager- we have to give him until at the very least, the end of the season, if not the summer to recruit his own players and implement his own style. He's basically got Grayson's team. I don't think Larry should have been sacked in the first place- however that has happened and we move on.

Don't get me wrong I have my reservations about Fev but he must be given a proper chance to fail.
All this changing manager every 17 games hasn't exactly proved fruitful has it?
What we need is stability and patience from the fan base. That's why I would being in a Director of Football - someone like Higgy, who can implement and agree on a style of play/ identity that the club will have moving forward and support Fev or whoever is in charge of the team on Match days.

Think we can might see a drop off in attendance from Saturday with it being a midweek game, but would still expect a good crowd. For a team in our position you’d expect this game not to be a problem for us given where Gateshead are, but as we saw on Saturday, we struggle to break teams down. I think we will scrape a win but probably a 1-0 or a 2-1. I have faith in our defence, but just don’t see where the creativity will come from. Even the other day we basically only created a few chances from 60+ mins onwards.

we can only play with one up front because thats all we have on the books. however for home games i,m sure there is another option to hunter and sheron starting together and having ferguson on the bench. its all down to the managers fear of losing than getting all excited about a win. fine for away games or keeping it tight at home after getting a 2 goal lead. apart from the size of the crowd and our new owner being there it was a type of game that would keep crowds aay rather than encouraging them to attend. feel sometimes the ghost of sarll is still wandering the corridors of the vic.

I agree Accy- need to be more positive at home and take the game to the opposition - which playing both Hunter and Sheron, appears to negate. Play one of them and have a more attacking option to help link up the forward play. I'd play Daly or Folarin from the start, in the absence of Francis.

Not sure if you were responding to me or one of the other posters Snowy but just to put the record straight I for one don't want Feaths removed in the short term - unless the side nose dives over the next month or so. I don't believe this will happen as I indicated above.

However, I don't believe that Feaths is the right man to lead the club forward in the long term and sooner or later Landon will appreciate - or be advised - that a more experienced manager/first team coach will require to be appointed if the club is to achieve his initial goal of return to the EFL.

Fev plays 1 up top because that's his preferred tactics, not because he's got no options. Brown is a forward, Charman was a forward, Francis was a winger, Johnson is a forward. We've got kids who are surely worth a shot?

If NF plays the same tactics/formation and we can,t beat Gateshead(don,t care who they have signed) then he is putting himself in the crosshairs.
If we stand off ANY team top/bottom then we are giving up the initiative.

Obviously, Feaths learned nothing from Saturday. I am expecting a similiar experience this evening because as everyone knows, repeating the same thing and expecting a different outcome is madness. Two defensive midfielders against the bottom side in the league FFS. Hope I am wrong and we win by a cricket score but I cant imagine it.

No structure game plan whatsoever.
Just hit n hope football.

And Southend winning n got 2 home games to rearrange v Heed n Truro.

Time for the deluded few to forget about a top 7 finish even if we shape up 2nd half.

Ah well.

Yep, any hope of play offs gone. You’d expect Southend to get a minimum of four points against Gateshead and Truro so that’s them nine points ahead and fading into the distance.

Featherstone is simply not a tactician. He was a defensive minded player and he’s taken that into management. Well now protect our 1-0 deficit in the second half.

No half time changes, I guess Feaths is pleased with how its going. Probably wait till 80th minute before bringing on attacking players. Wondering if he actually wants the job. Seems to be trying to get sacked.

Ok, a win but let’s not pretend it was anything pretty. Over the 90 minutes, the result was harsh on Gateshead.

Did Matty Daly save Featherstone's job? We were within 9 miutes of losing at home to the bottom side in the division who have lost their last six games. If their lad had not been sent off I wonder if we would have got back into it.

I stand corrected. So...."We were within 9 minutes of losing at home to the bottom side in the division who have lost their last 13 games". Makes Pools performance even worse. But still... a win is a win.

If Campbell starts the next game (and even worse out wide) Featherstone can fuck off for me. Shambolic until the red card. Folarin looks a lot better these last two games than before, not sure if it is because he’s came off the bench later in the game. We still fail to create any chances whatsoever but guess you have to take what you can get. All we can do is win and hope Southend slip up.

I cant see Southend slipping up. They went to York on Saturday and came close to beating them while we stumbled past Altrincham. They Hammered Eastleigh 4-1 while we scraped past Gateshead. I know there are are plenty of games to go but we are not the same gravy as Southend. They are consistently solid and you cant imagine them having the trouble beating Altrincham and Gatesehead that we had. Nope. No play offs for us.

I'm looking forward to seeing some replays of Danny Johnsons goal (not goal) tonight. Looked like it was well in to me.

I'd also like to add that I thought Miley worked his arse off tonight. He must be knackered. He's naturally an attacking midfielder but he's playing in a team of defensive midfielders where most of them can't run or pass.

It would appear that Landon is a lucky charm for us, he can now jet off to Minnesota a happy man with a big smile on his face after watching his new acquisition win back to back games with almost 10k spectators present. A win-win scenario all around. However, he will hopefully also appreciate that the side rode its luck big style in both games and could easily have dropped points in either or both games.

Plenty of food for thought therefore for Landon whilst he traverses the ocean towards Trumpland. He will have been made aware from Feaths and others at the club, not to mention the fans views directly from the terraces and indirectly via social media to the effect that the squad badly needs strengthening, more especially in midfield and upfront if we are to have anything more than a dogs chance of breaking into the playoffs this season let alone actually win back or place in the EFL on a sunny day at WEMBLEY. Stadium. Having a crack at an event such as that would surely set Landon's pulse racing! LET'S GO!

We had a bench full of attacking players that Featherstone chose not to start. I can appreciate caution when playing the better teams but Gatesehead for FFS? Especially having only just beat Altrincham by an arguable penalty. Why cant Featherstone see what everyone else can?
