Only a few more sleeps before we start the season of furniture and kitchen adverts that pray on our perceived inadequacies of that aspect of our lives. This is after the monstrous gluttony of the festival to the citadels of consumerism that we all happily call Crimbo.
To the 6% of the UK population that are practising Christians i wish you merry Christmastime. As for the rest check your overdraft and waistline.
On Boxing day Pools welcome the Iron to Victoria Ground with the accompanying smells of stale farts and beer.
I am going for a 1-1 bore draw with 4100 including 242 Steelworkers (for the moment).
Campbell 25 yarder. (22.86m).

0-2 loss 3400 with 163 iron supporters. They'll come and be better organised, and bully us into submission being stronger, fitter, and more determined to score goals.
Come on Pools prove me wrong!

Scunthorpe will bring plenty of fans - they had nearly 450 down at Woking on Saturday. The Rink End will be packed, like it was for the York game. Should be a great atmosphere. Proper Boxing Day fixture.

Yep, I cant see anything other than another abject defeat. Scunny are better than us and will be in the play offs.

You omitted the inevitable introduction of Cadbury's Creme Eggs- coming to a till near you
(whoever/ where ever you are) on Boxing Day morning- FFS!

In terms of the game a plucky 1 nil defeat.
Their keeper has the game of his life and saves a Johnson penalty with his face, before we concede late on from a long throw- there only shot on target which wrong foots Evans and nestles in the corner.

Crowd 4325
647 Scunts in attendance.

out of the top 6 i,d say they are the most erratic and beatable. its about time we get something to keep us going in the new year with a victory where everything clicks and drops for us.

I expect a 0-2 defeat to a flakey play-off team.

Our indifferent home form makes away draws (2 points dropped) to the likes of Braintree very disappointing.
With solid home form, some away draws would be more tolerable
Why can't Fevs see that one up front has proved to be ineffective at the Vic?

however who is this player who can make the two upfront at the moment. we,ll see when oliver is back whether he,ll do that. must admit i can see both him and reid sharing the game time unless he has no other choice but to play em together. really madine and manny d were not the roaring success we expected them to be together.

More chance of you getting your leg over in Buckingham Palace forecourt during the changing of the guard with the band playing….. than the Ballet Dancing Buffalo of football makes an impact.

PS That’s the collective ‘your’ so it’s not personal. ;)

30 mins gone and as usual no quality in the box. One effort on goal. Pools just defending as Scunthorpe now asserting their quality . Different week same old tactics same old dross

The commentator and co commentator have never shut up stating that’s an entertaining game . It isn’t unless you’re a Scunthorpe fan who has at least got some attacking intent. I always stuck up for Featherstone but the entertainment value is sterile with Pools clueless in or around the box . Am I being harsh anyone ?

It’s not looking good at all….an air of lethargy is running (well shuffling) through the whole structure of the place.
I expect nothing and they never disappoint me by producing nothing…. :snooty:

Well that was horrendous, piss poor negative team selection and tactics f*cking 70 minutes until we had a shot on target. A goal behind and a total lack of effort to change things or even look as if they were bothered.
I agree we've got some shocking players but Fev isn't getting the best out of this squad by a long shot. He's driving the nails into his managerial career before it's barely begun. 2 holding midfielders and an isolated striker at home FFS.
The game went pretty much as I predicted, they were better organised, stronger, fitter, and pretty much bossed us for most of the game. OK I got the crowd numbers wrong and the actual score but the result and manners of the game were as expected. Same again against Rochdale but they'll be more ruthless but score more.

Today demonstrated why we have no chance of a playoff place. Before today Scunthorpe and Southend were immediately above us in the last two playoff places. We lose at home to Sunnie and Southend beat Braintree who we bore drawed against last weekend. Without new faces, mid table is our best hope imho.

Boring yet again today. Given the other option is to play Johnson which is effectively like playing with 10, I think we can only play 1 striker at the moment. However, playing with Reid by himself, along with a midfield involving BOTH Sheron and Hunter means the ball has to bypass the middle of the pitch. This results in what we got today - aimlessly punting the ball to Reid’s head or down the channels. He actually managed to win a few headers today… unfortunately there was no one in support or to run onto them.

As much as I think Charman is a borderline National League North player we actually looked better when he came on. At home, if we’re not signing another striker we should at least be playing 2 wingers, Campbell cannot be playing out wide. Miley and probably one of Sheron/Hunter (even though they’re cack) with Campbell/Daly behind Reid with two of Charman, George, Brown out wide (hopefully none and we sign someone decent).

As much as Featherstone needs to get his head out his arse with playing two defensive midfielders at home, you saw the difference in quality today. A penalty and an individual goal by Roberts. Hes from round here he should be fucking playing for us. None of our attackers can do what he did today. Sign some fucking players Raj you pillock, and not cast offs from other teams as equally shit as we are.

Also someone needs to sort out the Food and Drink as well. Went down there 30 minutes in and by the time I made it back they were back on the pitch ready to kick off for the second half. Only wanted a cup of tea. Club can’t even boil a kettle right either it was room temperature at best.

Really annoying to gift Scunthorpe the opening goal. Cameron John has been a decent loan signing for Pools but has a mistake in him - that's not the first penalty he's conceded this season.
Thought Parkes and Kouogun did well in the face of a lot of pressure. George Evans is always good. That's about it as far as the positives go, though to be fair Daly responded the right way to being dropped by scoring.

One crumb of comfort for Tuesday night - Mani D has missed the last 2 Rochdale games with an injury. Hasn't even made the bench.

I doubt that Raj has any ambition for, nor even a passing interest in how the team that currently represents the club that he owns is performing. We have dropped one place today and current form is going to lead to a slide down the table in a matter of weeks as attendances drop with even the 'never say die' hards losing interest.

It's easy with hindsight but Feaths got lucky with the opposition he faced during his 'caretaker period' and his limitations have been exposed since then with dire performances and bad results against both lesser and better teams than us. His assertion that he genuinely believes that Pools can still make the playoffs is embarrassing given current form/results but perhaps that was aimed at Raj who really should have waited until now until reaching a decision re Feaths. Having said that, it's obviously not Feath's fault that the squad is so badly lacking in quality - his predecessor, the inept Monks coupled with Raj Singh's limited playing budget must take responsibility for that.

Although I appreciate that many contributers won't agree, if Raj does have any residual remaining interest in the squad, I still think the club has one roll of the dice remaining in which to save the season, ie. 1. Put Feaths back into his coaching role 2. Appoint (another) experienced manager to sort tactics/ formation/ set piece play/ in-play decision making - and get a better response from the players than Feaths is managing to do 3. At the very least make an effort to get rid of some of the deadwood (Walker/Johnson/Folarin/Hunter etc) off the books and 4. Recall Josh Donaldson from Hebburn and give the lad an early chance at this level - he surely cannot do any worse than some of the more experienced attacking players.

We will get nowt but a hiding at Rochdale and on current form Woking will doubtless also walk away from 'Fortress Vic' with three priceless points. The slide down the table began today - the question is can anyone at the club be arsed to do anything about it?

How many times can we change the manager and hope for a different result. As much as today felt like a waste of 2 hours that could’ve been spent doing literally anything else, you can only work with what you’ve got. You yourself mention that the quality of the squad is not good enough. It’s not as simple as playing another attacker when the option we have is Johnson who hasn’t scored in over 20 games so far. The recruitment has been so bad for so long. Even in the midfield, the option off the bench is Ferguson who moves like he’s left last night’s dinner in his shorts before going onto the pitch. You can’t just find teams to take these guys on. They’ve shown nothing here why would anyone want them? And why would they leave us when they’ve (presumably) got cushy 2 year deals?

Also what kind of effect does getting rid of the manager and installing yet another new voice do for this group of mental midgets?

A tad uncharitable…but we have been in a tail spin since IOR left….the club has been an hostage to those who haven’t got a clue.
We need change, because at present we’re on the road to nowhere at a sedate pace, with all sections of the club from top to bottom creaking like a sinking ship breaking up…then what becomes of the survivors…?

Stop talking sense man. Rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic comes as naturally to the current owner as it does to a lot of our fans. No doubt he'll oblige and dig up another 'proven winner' like Grayson sooner rather than later. Or turn to Lennie Lawrence again! This squad's not good enough to win promotion - it's that simple.

Featherstone reckons we 'might' make a couple of new signings next month. If we're lucky enough to unearth another Reyes Cleary the next 4 months might be tolerable.

Hasn't even made the bench.

but it has not stopped them scoring and winning unlike it did when he wore a pools shirt. thats the difference in the two clubs now. bad enough being shit but being second best to bloody gracie fields lot is unbearable.
