We really could do with both of them at their peak as players. As 'caretakers' I'm not so sure but the pair are probably preferable to Beech or whoever continues to lurk in the shadows at the Vic with the fanbase, under the perception that the deadwood was weeded out at the time of the LS takeover. Let's hope that their motivational skills and tactical nous are rather more developed than Lee's.

I dunno what sort of influx on the team under Clark they had.

But their own midfield skills certainly haven't coached or improved our midfield this season.

But surely it can only get better.

Why did they hang onto the weakest part of our team last season , the midfield….then actually make it worse still…… while talking it up….?

Well at least it is not Beech in charge, I thought it would go to 1 or 2 members of the existing coaching staff.

Bad news is that it is still Bromby that are doing the search for a new manager for Pools.
So Landon it appears still has faith in them.
Did they admit they got it wrong! I doubt it going by what they are saying on the official site:

“We believe this is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate, with the majority of the season still ahead and a good squad foundation in place.”

“Our immediate focus is on supporting Adam and Gary as they prepare the team for Saturday’s fixture against Scunthorpe United, while conducting a thorough and considered recruitment process.”

So they think they have in place a good squad foundation! What about the midfield, what about the captaincy!
And they are conducting a thorough and considered recruitment process!
What like last time!

If i were Landon I would not trust them at all.

What were their excuses? They selected the wrong manager the first time? It was all down to Clark?
Did they take a portion of the blame and apologise to Landon?
How long are they here at HUFC? Until Landon pulls the plug? End of season?
I was under the impression they were going to do a full review of the club and get things in place for Landon and then move on.
How much are they getting paid?

I am not happy with certain people still connected to Pools.
I am not happy with how things are being run.

Landon has come in and in my opinion should have listened to the following saying (amended):

"Just make sure you don't screw the pooch, Landon"

And if you look at our past managers of recent years, in fact since we had Danny Wilson, we have had a torrid time!
Only Mick Wadsworth, Ronnie Moore and of course Dave Challinor come out with any credit.
The rest of them have not really set the management world alive.
Our management appointments on the whole have been a laughing stock.

Landon pays Bromby good money to turn things around and we end up even worse off than we were last season!
Only at Pools!

And who are we going to attract?
Who did we interview last time?
Who in their right mind is going to want to manage Pools!

Some good questions there that need fast answers to our fanbase.

Is the dosh their to do what needs doing and eradicate Bromby from the club ASAP?

Surely to God they haven't mugged their way to long term contracts.

We may even need an FA Cup fun just to finance off loading the shit we currently have.

that would mean our last 2 FA cup runs have been a waste financially as they have gone on paying off people who made big mistakes. for others having one can kick off a run or make the club stronger. only thing us lot get is a few hours of joy and fading memories.

I don't know how Bromby have the cheek to raise their head above the parapet.
I would love to hear Landon's reasoning when allowing Bromby to still be in the building and, as for trusting them to pick the next manager, words fail me.
You couldn't make it up.

Landon would have been better advised by people who really care about the club, the fans!

He seems like a man who Honours Contracts.
Look at Fevs last year.
Wudent back him but wudent sack him.
Even got him back on the payroll before he went to Hull City last week.

Rewind to his early days.
The long term plan is to get back to the EFL.
Bromby could be on long contracts.

Like has been said previously he's Gunna have to man up n get ruthless.
I'd even advize him to contact Sing for advice.

One thing for sure the fans ain't Gunna show patience at them entrance fees.

See what xmas brings.
Ho Ho Ho
Would be nice to hear Smithys voice again.

Graeme Murty, Sunderland u21 coach, would be a good shout. From Saltburn and seems to know what he's doing. Don't know if he'd come here though, but would be a decent appointment.

I don’t think anyone currently in secure employment would want the job unless there was a decent compensation package if they got sacked. So it’s take your pick from any currently unemployed manager, you never know Clayton/Liddle combination might come good. Both midfielders so should be able to suss out the problems then again Clark was a midfielder.

We could do a lot worse than him. I reckon he'd have enough to get this squad playing.

unless i have deamped it hasn,t he been aske before and said no, so why is there interest all of a sudden. are we his last chance of getting a decent club before his career goes further downhill. it would be a big move for him an us and he,d have to succeed ot his next job will be somewhere like nelson or colne.

Maybe before he didn't fancy uprooting from the NW to work with Raj.

Would you uproot your family from across the country to manage Pools with their reputation of managers coming and going ?

You tried driving the M62 in the middle of the winter Snowy, I have many times, the conditions change minute by minute and it’s not very pleasant.

Clayton and Liddle were either nervous or felt very uncomfortable in front of the cameras, pre match Scunthorpe interview.

Yes….but every day in winter is not snowy blizzards…..they’re the exception…it’s not the Rocky Mountains…most people manage quite comfortably.

They didn’t look too comfortable Jamie, the next two results should reveal a lot…..they looked like two foxes pulled over by the sheepdog police for questioning…or even the two cabin crew informed the pilots have disappeared…can you fly the plane….?

No tactical changes coming, sticking to our identity (boring losers), wonder how many have cancelled their plans to go to Scunny on Saturday?

Probably realising the enormity of the task facing them, Gibson out, Hampson setback, Kouogun and Merrick still long term, Charms back to a degree, I suppose Eccleston and Hunter will be available again, they didn't fill me with much confidence that anything has changed, which is concerning because same old hasn't worked up till now.

Wow, I didn't expect this pair to be doing cartwheels at the prospect of being caretakers for an undefined period but watching this interview my first thoughts were 'has someone at the club died?' We obviously aren't aware of the strength of relationship between the players/coaching staff and Lee Clark but given the performances and results leading up to his resignation, his eventual departure cannot have come at a total surprise. Also, although the current NL league table is hardly a laughing matter for the players, officials and fans, I would hope that Clayton and Lidds put rather more effort, enthusiasm and positivity into their team talks prior to the Scunny game.

That would be yet another gadgie well-known in North-East football with zero experience of managing in the division we're in. It's not a move that has worked out at all well for Pools in the recent past.

Lee Clark, Lennie Lawrence, Kevin Phillips, Graeme Lee, Craig Hignett, Matthew Bates, Colin Cooper... Can we not just have someone who has won stuff at this level - or at least gone close?

The problem is that most managers with those credentials are already in employment.
Turner came from U21 football coaching, Coops from Scotland, Wilson had never managed at the level we were at (I may be wrong??), Challinor had been no higher than NLN and had been sacked by Fylde, a real mixed lot which just underlines the lottery of the managerial merry-go-round.
We can only hope that somehow lady luck shines on the next appointment.

Being a football manager is like any job…you turn up and feel at home or wish you’d never took the job…. and you never know till you get there.

thats why more work should be put into the next appointment. if cattermole and clark were the best they could come up with last time then somebody else should be doing the recruitment. the luck word certainly comes into it big time as many applicants have good CV,s and look good on paper to be found wanting with pools. going back to basics might help by advertising the job and see which names come up instead of what looks the case of them making there own short list and picking one who might only go for the money.

think under raj everyone in football must have had an iea what being pools manager was like. the difference between them and us is most have more confidence in there own ability to do a good job than we would have. the worriers and the unconfident do not last long in the job even if they have international caps.

Is a new manager about to be announced. There's a bit of tease from the club on twitter.
