Since Challinor’s departure, we’ve struggled to appoint a manager who can actually manage a team. It’s embarrassing. I was never keen on the old appoint a former known player to the role …..as managing a team and playing in a team are two very different roles. I want a manager not a minor local celeb in charge. Early days yet, but after watching how things seem to be panning out, I despair of facing another season of hit and miss disappointing football.
I was expecting a bit of a mixed set of results till October, as players got to get their act together, but disturbingly I’m seeing the exact opposite. Given our experience over several years the fans will get restless quite quickly…especially when playing cubs with gates over a thousand can manage to get a manager to put a team together. I suspect we’d be better off dumping consultants and getting a committee of the knowledgable to pick a manager.
Excuse my disappointment, but I’m getting tired of how history keeps repeating itself over the past few seasons and my patience shortened to match.
