"Peter Hartley has ruled himself out of our job, so he’s probably been knocked back and is saving face and we’ve made a decision and gave it to someone else, an announcement soon you’d hope cos we’re getting ****ing desperate"

From what he said there, it’s like the Captain of the Titanic saying I decided not to take the job as it was Iceberg time in the Atlantic, there’s too few lifeboats and I don’t think it is unsinkable…so I’ve took the job with the local Dredger Co instead.

It's only a couple of years since Hartley was last here as a player. He made 7 appearances in 4 months. He wasn't what Pools needed then and isn't what's needed now.

I expect the next rumour will be that he's heading up a takeover consortium.
