Boring scorching (90F) Sunday here, too freakin' hot to do more than pop out for a smoke so:
When the relegometer reaches 0, you're completely fu cked. The bottom team can have a reading of 1. Torquay's relegometer currently reads 6. Bostons reads 15 and Wrexhams reads 17. Macc's reads 17 and Bury's is on 18. The premise being, the more teams you can out-point with what's available, the better your chances of staying up, as opposed to the promo-tometer, which is teams that can't catch us.
In League 1, where the magic number is also 0, but 3 for the bottom team, 2 for the next, 1 for the next et al, and the relegometer looks like:
Brentford and Rotherham both on 12, Chesterfield 14, Bradford City 16, Cheltenham 17. Those above Cheltenham have a mathematical chance of the play-offs, incredibly. Of course we shouldn't care a flying fart who gets relegated from League 1 as we won't be playing 'em, will we?? No, Kev.
So to the Championship, the trapdoor opens at 0 as well, with 2 and 1 also being squeaky bum time:
Loo-un are sweating on 12, Leeds (YES!!) are on 13, so are Sarfend, QPR 15, Barnsley back on 14, Burnley, again can catch Wolves, who've managed to get in a play off place with a negative goal difference!!
Now I know you might need a degree in quantum physics to follow me train of thought but at least it'll keep you out of the pub for ten minutes.....
