I see the Hartlepool Mail have Wild as only being 38 years of age!

Looks like Bromby are here to stay, so the blame must be on Clark, especially when Maxwell is stating that we have a good set of players.
Hopefully the midfield is improved upon, either by tactics or new faces being brought in.

Another chapter for Pools begins...

we might have the basis of a good team when everyone is fit. hopefully money will be found at the back of the soda for improvements and who wild wants.

They're working out a rota... Gary Liddle gets in on Tuesday and Friday nights.

doubt he was like the PE teacher on kez. seemed a shy guy away from the game and remember him being embarrassed when my grandson asked him for his autograph in the players lounge when he was mascot. think keeping his job when everyone lost there,s says it all really.

conlon might end up as the jewel in the crown. a quiet man who kept his job when challinor took over at stockport. thats something of a rarety when they all want there own man in.

It seems Conlon has worked with Challinor for a few years so lets hope he has absorbed some of the Challinor magic. We certainly could do with some.

Absolutely, I think we’re all quite optimistic about the two managerial appointments but they ain’t magicians so they’ll need some time to get their ways bedded in.

think we were optimistic about most appointments at the outset with hartley being the big exception. this has been the ptoblem the hope we all have to see it dashed on the rocks before the clocks are altered.

I'd like to think that because he got the coach he wanted, Pete Wild will also have something in the kitty for new signings. A lot of NL teams have been busy strengthening their squads over the past month. - we've a bit of catching up to do.

Steady away with results in the next month and some judicious team recruitment would do me very nicely. Him and Dave Conlon are going to know loads of players who could improve Pools that they've already worked with.

Well if them 2 can't improve us then it's fair to say no one can.

Gunna do a Clayton n look at the table in February.
It might say we top

Ow Jamie.
How long is Wildys Contract for.

You seem more knowledgeable than the rest of us regarding contracts.

well as far as conlon is concerned his old club stockport have at least 2 players who have not been given squad num, bers but are still being paid by the club without playing.

I'd assume Conlon who was a part of DCs coaching staff at Stockport would have taken advice about Pools from him, and DC must recognise and think we're a club with a future rather than the managerial graveyard it was under Raj.
I'm sure him and Wild have been reviewing match videos to come up with a plan to win today and I'm super confident that we'll get the rare for us "new manager bounce" today. Easy money at the bookies imo.

biggest hope is that peter wild is a lucky manager first and a good one second. luck plays a big part in the game with the bounce of the ball, refs decisions and even down to when you play other teams. over the years luck and pools have never been close bedfellows. every dog has its day and surely its time for this old dog to have there one.

To be fair we have had a decent share of luck this season: Aldershot penalty miss and that last minute open goal howler by Marquis of Woking. Two strokes of luck gained us four points

That was a real baptism of fire for Pete Wild. He was doing his best not to sound shell-shocked in his post-match interview on Pools' X account but only promised that after a week's training Pools would be "slightly better" down at Forest Green next Saturday.

He's seen enough to know he's got a huge task on his hands to turn things around.

And if him and Landon Smith very in any doubt, the amount of booing and jeering from the Mill House when the players came over them at the end will have shaken them. It was loads angrier than when we got turned over by Worthing a couple of weeks ago.

To be fair to Wild, if our midfield is still Hunter, Sheron and Miley (when Sheron isn’t at RB or Hunter CB), he will be lucky to last the season, either through being sacked or going Awol. Nothing against him, but it doesn’t matter if we sign Haaland those 3 will lose us every game.

I'm sure PW will have done his homework on what sort of task faces him and the enormity of it. Videos of our games are readily available and after watching those over and over again the reality was well and truly underlined today.
One thing for sure I don't think he will allow his task to be hampered by interference from "upstairs".
I wish him well but my fear is that he won't last long if he feels his hands are tied.
In my opinion, humble as it is, I think Landon is making a big mistake in stopping short of abandoning the path he is on with the football side of things but it is his club and he'll do as he sees fit.
He might be making huge strides in the other areas of the football club but I am judging on what I witness and what I witness is not pleasing to the eye.
His sudden silence in the communications side is also worrying me, especially when he was, at first, quick to point out the importance of communicating with the fans.
All we hear now is silence.

He mentioned "too many players with fragile mindsets" in his interview and said "read into that what you will". Losers is my interpretation. Too many who accept defeat too easily.
Only Miley, John, McNally, and the keeper looked anywhere good enough or willing enough today, I'm excusing Harris who as usual was feeding off scraps today.

Miley?!?! He was possibly the worst player on the pitch other than Penman. I don’t know what sort of voodoo Miley has over Pools fans, whether it’s because he’s from Newcastle’s academy, or his younger brother is an actual good player, or what. He’s been mediocre since he signed and now is actively a detriment every week.

Sheron and Hunter have always been so bad I don’t count them as actual players but empty shirts.

Barron made the point today that every team he has seen play against us this season has a player in midfield who took a grip on the game and controlled it but we seemed to be devoid of such a luxury.
It is getting beyond a joke now that everybody and his brother recognises our major weakness except the people running the club.
I'm assuming PW will also point out that weakness but the big question is, will he be allowed to remedy that weakness.
We'll see eh.

I thought Wild's post match interview was on the money. Compare the honesty and the attempt at analysing what is going wrong to Clark's post match strangeness. It was always going to be a tall order to pull something out of the hat in 24 hours so I am not completely surprised we lost. What remains to be seen over the next few weeks is if the problems in this team are solvable. One thing is certain, the process will take time.

Miley!! holy moly that guy is really poor, what does he actually do better than your average sunday league footballer? He cant dribble, he cant take the ball on the turn, he isnt fast, he cant pass a through ball. That was shown today and also multiple times this season, where his final pass has been overhit when we have had a good chance, he cant shoot, he cant take a set piece (no idea why he takes most of them, whens the last time we scored a set piece goal, and how many in the last two seasons? Has to be less than 5!

I get it, he is younger but that doesnt excuse him from his overall really poor performances and inability to actually create a single chance in open play given the position he is playing in.

The whole midfield stinks, none of them can do even the basics and if theres no more arrivals, we are as good as toast.

The reason we lost today was not down to the midfield, both teams mainly by passed their midfields with long balls all afternoon.
The reasons we lost were Nolans abysmal spot kick, McNally's miss when it looked easier to hit the target, and of course Penman's nightmare of a game culminating in him impersonating a 90 year old running through treacle and allowing their goal.
Wild reckons 5 to 6 weeks before he'll have a team playing to his standards, I imagine that'll include a few new recruits.

The missed penalty for me was the reason we lost, that goes in and I think we'd have won reasonably easy. Fucking shocking penalty, McNally I think did well to get the header in, Nolan ... Jesus, he should never take a penalty again.

He never looked confident from his body language and that must go down as one of the worst penalt misses I’ve ever seen……nut a reflection of the teams general confidence and demeanour.

We took an early lead down at Scunny a week ago and still go clattered. Pools are incapable of winning, let alone winning easily, at the minute - teams always find us out the longer the game goes on.

Anyone who thinks Miley played well yesterday needs a trip to SpecSavers.

The missed penalty was not the reason we lost . We lost because just about the whole team couldn’t string a pass or cross together . We therefore had no width as the ball was just being hoofed in the air and the few chances we did make mostly near the end were squandered because the strikers took too many steps. Further , the few set pieces we had were directed straight to the keeper . There was just no thought throughout . The whole team bar 2 or 3 had no energy or confidence . Anyway what’s done is done we must now look forward and be realistic

Totally agree that we were rubbish, I was just making the point about the missed penalty. I think if we scored that it would have been a different game. We didn't though, and deserved nothing.

possibly if we had scored that penalty it could have given more confidence to the players. they were no better than us and could not see them scoring two goals to win without them conceeding another to us. know a win does not look likely any day soon, but it would be nice to see if the players attitude and condifence does rise if they got a deserved 3 points.

See Pete Wild was telling the media yesterday that the football his Pools side will play "may not be pretty" and also suggesting that Pools fans need to "stick with someone eventually."

Not a surprise as he's well-known for putting sides out that are hard to beat, not fantastic to watch. It's ironic that we've gone full circle in only two months!

It doesn't bother me as I've never cared how we accumulate points as long as we accumulate enough to get out of this feckin' division! Still I expect that as soon as we move away from the bottom 4 the purists will start moaning about the quality of the football they're watching (sometimes for nowt).

Aye the number one priority is getting out of this division......at the right end of course.
