We can't play 442 with an attacking CM and 2 wide attacking players imo.
Lack of chances isn't simply a CM problem, where's the quality from the wings and why is there nobody on the end of balls into the box?
I think we need to try a 352, yes we might concede more but the extra man in midfield should give us more of an attacking option and hopefully we'll outscore more times than not.
What did Nolan and Harris get between them last season, about 60 goals? We're giving the forwards nothing but scraps to feed on.
Ilunga has been credited with 2 assists so far this season, McKeown has 2 goals and Nolan 1 goal, all playing out wide - so quality from the wings isn't the issue.
Dead ball delivery, on the other hand, has been mostly hopeless.
Will Harris (22) and Jack Nolan (18) scored 40 between them last season. Each of them had a good chance that they didn't put away on Saturday but they'll both score plenty as long as the fans don't get on their backs. Regan Linney has been a goal machine for the last 3 seasons for Altrincham and Carlisle but he's only scored 1 so far this season too. It's early days.
3-5-2 definitely the way to go tomorrow. I'd like to see Bondi get a chance to start rather than Popov.
having somebody capable of playing a through ball to strikers on the move would be a big change. at the moment its always going to the wings with even crossfield balls from wing to wing that only work half the time as the other half sees em going out of play. big hairy arsed defenders in this league love all that heading the ball away in 50/50 challengers.
