Your DNA

Anyone on here had there DNA verified….had mine done a few years back, but been informed that due to advances in DNA, the company has had my DNA upgraded and sent me my new more extensive parentage.
Funny how we think our ancestors have lived in this town for years, but it comes up with surprises

43% English.
17% Irish
15% Scottish Borders
11% German
7% Dutch
7% Danish…..funny old world innit.

Irish and Scottish Borders no surprise, they came to Hartlepool in the 19th century as migrants to work.

Bit of Viking in there Snowy with the German/Danish connection, had mine done earlier in the year as an Xmas present and I'm 55% Irish, 31% Ulster Scots( Northern Ireland/Central Scotland) and 12% Northern English and 2% Devon and Somerset.
So I'm a full on Guinness/Whisky drinker with a little bit of cider thrown in

The daughter said I should get the wife to find out her roots…no point, there’d be just a big stamp saying ‘YORKSHIRE’….they all moved to West Hartlepool from Carlton Miniot when the docks were built.

wonder if there were signs out saying no irish, scottish or dogs. so thats a help with the reason part of the family was from the scottish borders. funny thing this DNA as the percentage of polish in me is higher than my lads partner who was born there.

When West Hartlepool was being built there was no one to complain to…they built their own ‘community’ up Hart Lane …. roughly the land where Hart Lane Cemetery is now and called it ‘California’ and it was all just fields.

She might get a surprise because I think the area you mentioned her clan was from was Danelaw which could suggest a major Viking element.

I'd be terrified to have mine done incase it came back with somewhere in Africa in it.

Rumour has it that Jamie's DNA report came back with the comment "sorry to disappoint but we don't do Jigsaw puzzles"

Rumours have it they lost the box lid with the picture on….mind you it was only a 4 piece jigsaw.
