According to Robbie Stelling, it's Jack Hunter, with Reiss McNally as vice-captain.

No doubt there'll be a few moans about that, but it makes sense from the point of view of seniority in the squad, although Sheron joined Pools a few weeks before Hunter and out longest serving player is - Luke Charman!

Doesn't mean Hunter will be playing every week, far from it. Stelling points out that club captain in Challinor's promotion winning squad was Ryan Donaldson, and he didn't start many games.

Judging by the starting 11 against Fleetwood squad numbers have been allocated too:

1 Merrick
2 Benn
6 McNally (C)
5 Kouogun
3 John
12 Ecclestone
14 Sheron
8 Miley
7 Ilunga
10 Harris
19 Popov

Dare say when we get the new rinky dinky digital site all will be revealed. Might even get a squad photo...

Maybe he's a role model, well respected, and great leader in the dressing room?
Club captain doesn't mean a lot regarding playing time these days.

thats spot on and why he has got that job. its not an under 11 team where they seem to give that honour to the best player if the managers son misses out.
