to be fair these areas have been like that for many years and is nothing to do with the current boat loads of immigrants. its not the southalls, whitechaples, handsworths or manningham what the problem is, its the import of them to areas who have been more or less white british thats been the problem and where things will kick off in the end.

true, but the situation changed after the war where we needed more workers. the big difference is unless you are a staunch labour supporter we don,t now. as for the nhs we have always had foreign doctors and plenty of irish nurses once which can still happen. all thats needed is advertising in other countries for them and any other jobs in the future.not just import thousands unchecked without accomodation or work to start with. there will be good and bad amongst this new wave but at th end of the say very few are actually needed. doubt we,d get away with doing the same and having idiots in other countries shouting out cause.

I worked in outer London in the early 70s in a place called Greenford, and it was predominantly black, I had trip upto Southhall and that was unbelievable in those days,Indians, Pakistanis etc out numbered white people and that was over 50 years ago. Ilford was more West Indians but again they outnumbered white people, another trip for work pre the motorway being built we had to go through Coventry no different there either. Those places existed all those years ago, we were immune to it then albeit it’s moved further north now.

having sent myself to coventry to work there for 14 years non white immigrants mainly lived in one segment of the city and driving to the opposite side was an all white area. possibly there are more irish and those of irish extraction there than all the other immigrants put together.

Actually, after the war we did not need more workers, that is a lefty myth. The so called "Windrush Generation" were economic migrants no more no less. Unemployment in the West Indies was a problem so some of them decided to take a chance in the UK: they were not invited. Japan had two Atomic bombs dropped on it but didnt need migrant workers, why would we? Nope, lefty bullshine.

it was a case of filling that ship. more came years after and ads were put in papers over there for staff especially on the buses. then getting into the late 50,s early 60,s we needed workers in the textile industry to replace many of the women who left and never returned to the mills after getting married and having kids. i personally cannot see anything wrong in that like the aussies with there £10 poms. allowing anyone in without work or housing is lefty bullshit because those who think that way will never give em a room.

A lot of the women wanted to return to the work, but were not allowed to do so if they married or had kids.
A simple law change to allow these women to work would have saved this country!!

Most women work nowadays to help pay for the 3/4 bedroom houses and to help pay for the second car. in days gone by people never really had debt, maybe a Providence cheque, in Hartlepool pre the Fens being built people lived in street affordable houses round the town. The advent of more accessible credit/mortgages encouraged people to buy more bigger and expensive houses and take on more debt, now it’s lease cars where people pay several hundred pounds a month to lease a new car. Gone are the days when we had runaround’s with a trip to the scrapyard for spare parts etc.
In general the UK has become too materialistic, everything has to be new, no hand me downs anymore.

honestly i have never heard of that law. it was socially though not popular for married women with school age kids to work. the kids were called latch key kids and they got stick as much as parents did. many did work part time in mills around school times.

exactly. nobody are prepared to save up for things anymore like holidays and christmas. we all remember christmas clubs where a few shillings were put away weekly. now its shoved on a credit card. live now pay later was a film but now a life choice. even bloody morrisons have stopped there christmas saving stamps which we have used for years. think they were the last shop to do this apart from the co-op which is a bit pricy.
