He was voted as West Ham's greatest ever player by their fans a few years ago. When you consider his competition included Sir Trevor Brooking, Sir Geoff Hurst & Bobby Moore, that's some achievement!!

R.I.P Billy, a great player.

Cheers for these lovely words, Gents. West Ham fan here (HUFC have been my 2nd team since the early 70s and I turn up at least once a season at your away games).

Very sad day yesterday, when the world lost a true gentleman and West Ham lost its favourite son. Thursday night away to Man Utd will see us give Billy Bonds the tribute he deserves.

Wishing each and every one of you the very best ⚒

A battler…I remember him as a kid in all those glorious mud fests you never see now in the Premiership.

My mate at school Kev G had an older brother John who used to travel down from here to all of West Hams home games by train in the 70's, he was a huge Hammers fan, must've cost him a fortune.

unless he managed to split his journey with numerous platform tickets or borrowed a train pass from somebody who worked on the railways.

Or railway fares were reasonable in those days.

more than today, but they were still not exactly cheap back then. it was always cheaper to catch the bus for the equivelant journey.
