Because of last nights non-stop rain, we decided to sit in the Millhouse stand near the press box.
Five minutes into the game we realised that this was not a good idea as Gobshite was sat a few rows in front, from the kick off he started with his non stop torrent of abuse and foul language towards the team. that was until I saw and heard an elderly gentleman sat near him turn around and politely ask him to refrain from using such bad language around his grandchildren.
Although still abusing the players I never heard Gobshite swear again throughout the rest of the game.

Good on that man for pulling him up, too many people just turn a blind eye to that sort of thing these days.

Think he might have been sheltering from the rain, same as you. I normally sit about 10 rows down from the press box but gave last night's game a miss because I'm getting over man flu.

There's not normally any sweary types up there - not since we got relegated back down to the National League at any rate. The opinionated gobshites that briefly deigned to follow Challinor's team didn't stick around after the Hartley-Curle-Askey season.

Good grief. When you see it put like that "the Hartley-Curle-Askey season" it really makes me wonder why we keep on paying to watch this rubbish.

I remember that season thinking right from pre season that Hartley was going to be a disaster. Then feeling relieved (but worried and confused) when he was replaced by Curle. Then getting a feeling of "everything's going to be alright after all" when they appointed Askey.

After that we had the Askey, Lawrence, Phillips season. Then we had the Sarll, Lawrence, Limbrick season and now we're in the Grayson, Featherstone and someone who will surprisingly be given the boot about a week after the last game, season. Leaving us managerless and behind with pre-season while Raj and Lennie look for the next poor mug.

And let's not forget the seasons before Hartley. Apart from super Dave - they were no better.

Rinse and repeat.

Now, back to the original post on this thread. The commentators on Dazn last night apologised at one point for the background unsavoury language from the Pools supporters. Which I found funny really given how much I was swearing in my living room watching that "trying to defend a one goal lead against the bottom of the league club" shite.

I reckon they’re hen pecked and under the thumb at home and it’s their one opportunity to let off steam.

How can you expect to go to a football match and not hear swearing!!! Jesus wept, we live in a society full of snowflakes!!!

Swearing in public and in front of kids is now unfortunately common place. It's not unique to the MH Go shite or even Pools supporters.

That is exactly correct.

Swearing has it”s places and occasions, any fool should know that.
The ‘person’ in question sounds like a gobshite….opps, don’t forget ‘utter and complete’, in front of the word either.

and not just blokes either. many lasses are just as bad. plus kids are nor all choirboys and girls either.

I remember a teacher telling us all, that those of us who think it's macho, hard or tough to use expletives on a regular basis are demonstrating a lack of intelligence and vocabulary.
He said you'll soon find that you will be left off invitation lists and classed as a potty mouthed loose cannon.

Very probable but how he advises his pupils to behave and how he converses with his mates are two entirely different scenarios, which is outstandingly obvious don't you think.
I would like to assume that those of us who do use expletives know when to refrain from using them and Mr Teacher is no exception to that theory. There is a time and a place for everything.
